| Judge's comment: I learned that the bamboo painting was done by the authour herself. It is really well done even for the critical oriental eyes. Still I cannot see the reason why the painting is cut out like this. Since the author has good hands in brush painting, I wish she used the brush skill alone to depict the haiga. In that way, I feel that the haiku and the image will look better. I feel that collage technique or paper-cut-out technicue is not a suitable way for this haiku. |
